Conferences are an opportunity to network, learn what is going on in your field, and take seminars for continuing education credit. If you have funding to attend a conference in the next year, below are a few events to consider.
While most of the events are not specifically catering to grant writers, the conferences cover non-profit management topics and themes related to grant writing, research administration, and proposal management.
The first event, the InsideNGO Annual Conference, is coming up very soon—July 28-30, 2015. This conference is a member-only event (click here to find out if your employer is a member organization) and will be held in Washington, DC at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The conference will include 100 different sessions and keynote speakers at the event will be Pulitzer-Prize winning journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn.
2015 Grant Conference of the American Grant Writer's Association, Inc., will take place at the Embassy Suites, Crystal City, Arlington, VA August 4-5, 2015. The American Grant Writers’ Association is a member organization but many of its resources can be accessed for free on its website. The conference is open to both members and non-members. Registration fees are $449 for non-members and $349 for members.
10th Annual Nonprofit Management Institute will be held September 9-10, 2015 at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. The conference is titled: Building Resiliency: Yourself, Your Organization, Your Society, Executive Education for Social Sector Leaders, coproduced by Stanford Social Innovation Review and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Registration has started for this event with early bird rates effective through July 31, 2015. The registration fees are:
- $995: Early bird rate for SSIR subscribers* and AFP members
- $1,220: Early bird rate plus addition of AFP membership
- $1,395: Early bird rate for non-subscribers and non-members
The Grant Professionals Association (GPA) conference will be held from November 11-14, 2015 in St. Louis, MO. Registration for the conference is open. GPA is a membership organization, and the fee structure for the conference includes early-bird rates and rates for members and non-members.
The Association of Fundraising Professionals Annual Conference will be held in March 2016 in Boston. Registration for this event has not yet started but you can visit the site to sign up to be alerted when registration opens.
For those based outside of the U.S., there are several conferences scheduled in the months ahead that focus on research administration and fundraising.
The Hemispheric Congress on Fundraising - Latin America will hold its meeting on September 28 - 29, 2015 in Santa Fe, Ciudad de Mexico, D.F.
West African Research & Innovation Management Association (WARIMA) will hold the WARIMA 2015 Annual Conference on November 23 -25, 2015 at Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, University of Ghana, Ghana
